Just completed building my HTPC, now I am looking for integrating an IR receiver and using a RC to controlmy box (including power-on and off).

Looking for some good articles to setup IR/RC and USB wake-ups.

Well many new cases will have integrated IR receivers capable of powering on machines. The Antect Fusion v2 and above for instance. If you don't have a case that is capable then the SIMEREC is a good little piece of hardware, I have two. See the Missing Remote Review: SIMEREC Universal IR Remote Control PC Power Switch (PCS-2)

For stand-alone IR Receivers I'm a fan of USB-UIRT since it can transmit as well but it isn't plug-n-play. You'll need to do some configuration.

Another option is Global Cache's line of IR products. Again, you'll need additional software but you can control "anything"

Soundgraph's iMon product range can also allow remote power on (albeit ina slightly clunky way) but have proven difficult to find in stores recently. You might however find the products rebadged as Antec Veris VFD's. I am not the greates fan of the iMon software but it can be set up to give you an awful lot of information on the VFD display.

http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/Soundgraph_iMon_UltraBay/index.shtml has quite a good write up on one of their units
